๐Ÿ  Adoption Process

How to Adopt
from Cheetos Foundation

Our adoption process is thorough but straightforward. We want every animal to go to a home that's ready for them โ€” and we're here to help you get there.

1

Browse and Choose an Animal

Visit our Animals page to see all animals currently available for adoption. Filter by species, read their stories, and look through their photos. Take your time โ€” this is an important decision.

2

Fill in the Adoption Form

Click "Apply to Adopt" on the animal's listing. You'll be asked about your living situation, experience with animals, and what kind of environment the animal will come into. There are no trick questions โ€” just honest answers help us make the right match.

3

Screening & Home Check

Our team reviews every application. For some animals (especially kittens and medically fragile rescues), we do a brief home visit or video call to make sure the environment is safe. This is standard for all NGO adoptions and usually takes 2โ€“5 days.

4

Meet the Animal

Once approved, we'll arrange a meeting โ€” at our shelter or the foster home where the animal is staying. This is your chance to see if the bond is right. You can bring family members, including resident pets in some cases.

5

Adoption Agreement & Handover

We'll ask you to sign a simple adoption agreement โ€” it covers basic care commitments (vet visits, not abandoning the animal, indoor/outdoor policy etc.). The animal comes to you vaccinated, dewormed, and sterilised. We'll share all their medical history.

Post-Adoption Support

We don't disappear after handover. Our team is available for questions about settling in, behaviour, nutrition, and vet referrals. We do a 30-day check-in for all new adoptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an adoption fee? +
We don't charge a fixed adoption fee โ€” but we do ask for a voluntary contribution toward the animal's medical costs (vaccines, sterilisation, treatment). The suggested amount varies by animal and will be discussed during screening.
Can I adopt if I rent? +
Yes โ€” we just ask that you have landlord permission (or that the rental agreement allows pets). We can't place an animal somewhere that might have to return it in two months.
We already have a pet at home. Is that a problem? +
Not at all โ€” but we'll guide you on the introduction process. Some of our animals have been in multi-pet foster homes; others haven't. We'll match you with an animal suited to your situation.
What if the adoption doesn't work out? +
Life happens. If the adoption isn't working โ€” for any reason โ€” please contact us first before making any other decision. We'll always take the animal back rather than have them abandoned.
